Kybella Overview

Eliminate Submental Fat

Discover a revolutionary solution to banish the frustration of submental fat with Kybella injections, the only FDA-approved injectable for this purpose. At CVLC, our board-certified dermatologists in Buffalo, NY, Dr. Buscaglia and Dr. Brauer, combine advanced technology with personalized care, making us the go-to choice for Kybella treatments. Learn how this non-invasive, safe procedure can redefine your profile, eliminating fat cells for good.

How Does Kybella Work?

The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that functions to help the body break down and absorb dietary fat. The synthetic version of this acid, when injected into the fatty area beneath your chin, destroys the fat cells, which are then shed by your body naturally. As the days and weeks pass, the fat cells disappear, never to return, and a slimmer, more youthful profile is revealed.

Benefits of Kybella

Kybella has forever changed the aesthetic industry. Before this groundbreaking injectable was discovered, your only hope for shedding a double chin was surgery, liposuction, or endless dieting, with little results. The benefits of Kybella include:

  • FDA approved
  • Safe
  • Fast treatment
  • Non-invasive
  • No need for anesthesia

What Is The Treatment Like?

The first step in any treatment at CVLC is to meet with us so we can evaluate your unique condition. Our physicians are among the most accomplished skincare experts in the region and are warm, honest human beings who are dedicated to achieving superior results. If you are a good candidate for Kybella (and most people are), the procedure is very simple.

You will rest comfortably in one of our luxury treatment suites. The target area will be numbed to make the injections more comfortable. Kybella is then injected in a grid pattern into the fatty area, which takes about 20 minutes to complete.

Is There Any Recovery Time?

It is common to experience some swelling, bruising, or numbness in the area treated. These side effects typically peak on day three or four. Swelling can linger for a few weeks. The changes in your profile begin to appear within a week or two, with under-chin fat melting away.

How Many Kybella Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatment sessions you will need will reflect your individual condition. Depending on the quantity of excess fat in the area, up to six treatment sessions may be needed, at one-month intervals.

How Long Do I Have To Wait To See The Fat Disappear?

The destroyed fat cells are shed by the body’s system, so you need a little patience. The results you envision are typically achieved at about three months following your final treatment. The slimming effect continues after every injection session until you achieve the result you wanted – a sculpted, defined jawline, with excess fat gone, never to return.

Determining Your Candidacy

Our Kybella in Buffalo may be right for you if:

What if my fullness is actually enlarged salivary glands or a bulky digastric muscle?

Kybella only targets subcutaneous fat. Enlarged glands or muscle won’t improve and may look worse if surrounding fat is reduced.

What if I previously had neck or chin liposuction?

You may still be a candidate, but fibrosis can make injections more uncomfortable and swelling more noticeable.

Can Kybella cause nerve injury and an uneven smile?

Yes, temporary nerve paresis can occur if product tracks too low. It usually resolves within weeks.

Is Kybella safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

It’s not studied or recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Will darker skin tones have higher risk of hyperpigmentation?

Post-inflammatory pigmentation can occur. Sun protection and gentle care reduce risk.

Can Kybella be combined with RF microneedling, ultrasound, or fillers?

Yes, often staged. Fat reduction first, then tightening or fillers several weeks later.

Does Kybella help with a tech neck crease?

No. Those are skin lines, not fat. Consider lasers, RF, or injectables instead.
