Vascular Specific Laser Treatment (Cynergy™ Pulsed dye/YAG lasers)
The Cynergy™ Pulsed Dye laser delivers an intense but gentle burst of yellow light to the surface of the skin whereit is absorbed by cells within the scar to flatten out the excessive collegen. This results in reduced redness and a more even texture. This type of scar treatment was introduced in the mid 1990’s and is one of the safest and most widely used lasers for scar treatment. It utilizes a cool air device that accompanies the laser pulse, protecting the skin and making the treatment very comfortable.
FAQs
What is the treatment like, does it hurt and is downtime required?
Laser Scar Revision treatment is quite tolerable and though no topical anesthetic is required, it may be used. The skin is protected during the treatment with a cold air device, which flows during each pulse of the laser. Most patients will experience a small amount of redness in the skin for about 1-3 days after the treatment, but this should not interfere with any planned activities at home or work.
How many treatments are required and at what interval?
We generally provide a series of treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Depending on the nature of the condition being treated, it may require 3-6 treatments, or possibly more.
What is the cost for treatment?
Cost ranges from $275-$5,000 depending on the type, location and extent of scarring.
