Stretchmark Revision

Common Causes

Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched quickly over a period of time, most often during pregnancy or rapid weight gain. The layers of stretched skin are torn, and replaced by scar tissue. When the weight is lost, the stretch marks usually remain. They generally appear as light pink or purplish threads, and normally show up on the abdomen, thighs, upper arms, breasts, and hips. While they aren’t a health hazard, they do pose a cosmetic problem for many people.

Recommended Treatments

Stretchmark Laser therapy

Laser therapy generally reduces the appearance of a stretchmarks. We use both the yellow light Cynergy™ Pulsed dye laser and the Fraxel re:store™ resurfacing laser to treat stretch marks. Both of these advanced laser systems work to induce remodeling of the collagen under the skin to allow for fading in color and blending of the texture of the stretch mark.
